Stewards of our Blessings
As members of St. John’s Church, we are called to be stewards of the gifts of grace that God bestows and continually bestows on us. As stewards of this grace; a sacred place designed for worship; a community built for fellowship and mission; and resources of faith and inspiration in the world, we are called to ask, “What is important in our history?” and “What parts of our past can we preserve and save for future generations?” Through this insight we can reflect where we have been, who we are, and where we want to go. Being stewards of our treasures is an important way for us to transmit our faith and our understanding of the past and present to future generations.
Faith Looks to the Future
To have faith, means we are to hold on to what is joyful, right, and good, but it also means to look forward to a bright and renewed future. As members of St. John’s have celebrated life as a faith community together for the last 175 years. This has taken a sacrificial commitment of time, talent, and financial resources of many generations. In order for us to continue to provide spiritual witness and guidance, we are called to be stewards of our financial future as well. We have been overwhelmed with expenses in the last number of years because of significant maintenance needs. Our Church building is now 175 years old, Ribble Hall is 83 years old, and Eppes Hall is now over 50 years old; all of which have demanded financial resources for upkeep which has signifcantly affected our operating budgets yearly and in turn our savings are being depleted. St. John’s Church now needs our help to improve its financial future.
We are asking our entire parish, those who have had an association with St. John’s in any way in the past, and those in the community who have an interest in historic preservation to make a commitment to our campaign to create a Capital Reserve Fund, that the future of the historic buildings and property in and around St. John’s will continue to move toward a secure financially the facilities for a new generation. A gift or pledge over the next five years will help ensure a promising future. In this brochure is a suggestion of giving plans. Please consider which plan fits your monthly budget.
Consider a Special Commitment
Some of us have been especially blessed with monetary riches. A heartfelt appeal is made by those individuals who are able to make a very generous pledge to the campaign. We ask those who are capable of making pledges of $10,000, $20,000, $25,000 or more to help lay the foundation of success for our Capital Reserve Campaign. I want to thank you for your prayers and thoughtful consideration for helping to take us to a bright future.
Sincerely, Father Bill
